Kindred Spirits

Rainbow Rowell is one of my favourite authors and although her newest book Kindred Spirits is only 62 pages long, it was one of my most wanted releases of this year. It was written for the british World Book Day, and I had to order it from Amazon which meant I had to wait foreeeeever for it (at least it felt like forever), and it was SO worth it. The book was short, and so is this review going to be.
The book is about a teenage girl, Elena, who is absolutely obsessed with Star Wars, and the story takes place as she sits in line for five days to see the new one. In the line is also some older man called Troy, and (of course) a boy about Elena's age - Gabe. During the week Elena gets to know Troy and Gabe, and they bond over the Star Wars fandom. And obviously - seeing as it is a Rainbow Rowell story - there is a little romance in there.
The book has just as great dialogue as usual, and the story is just as cute as the rest of Rainbow Rowell's books - leave it to her to write an amazing love story in only 60 pages. It illustrated being a part of a fandom perfectly, and even though I have never really been that into Star Wars I could relate to the fandom aspects anyway. This was great and I wish it could have been longer! If you manage to get a hold of it, you should really read it!
4/5
xx - Lene
