(Side note: I wrote this post in the beginning of january and never got around to posting it, but I didn’t want it to go to waste so here it is!) 2015 had some great book releases, and I am SO excited for the books that are going to be released in 2016! So, I have collected a small list of the books that I am most excited for.
Marissa Meyer, the author of The Lunar Chronicles series (which I absolutely LOVE), has become quite well known during the release of the series and 2016 is going to be incredibly busy with her releasing THREE books! The first release is Stars Above which is a collection of five companion short stories for The Lunar Chronicles, set to be released on February 2nd. I’m so sad that the series has ended, but this kind of makes it better I guess.
Another book, Heartless, is set to be released on November 8th. It is going to be a prequel to Alice in Wonderland, telling the story of Catherine - the girl who would later become the Queen of Hearts. I love getting to know the backstory of characters and I love the story of Alice in Wonderland, so I just can’t wait for this one.
The last book is the first in a trilogy which is supposed to be about superheroes and supervillains. It hasn’t got a specific date yet, but it is supposed to come out at some point in 2016, with the sequels being released in 2017 and 2018. This is a combo of Marissa Meyer and superheroes, so basically it’s bound to be awesome.
The next book is Kindred Spirits by Rainbow Rowell. I haven’t been able to find a plot description yet but it’s written by Rainbow Rowell, and although it’s only 96 pages long, that’s pretty much all I need to know. It is set to be released on March 3rd.
If any of you have read the second volume of The Wicked + The Divine, you'll know just how much I want to read the third volume, because holy moly that was a serious cliffhanger!!! Ever since I finished the second volume a couple months ago I have been searching for a release date for the third volume, Commercial Suicide, and it has finally been announced to come out on February 3rd.
I read The Night Circus last year and absolutely loved Erin Morgenstern’s magical writing and I was so sad that she hadn't published anything since Night Circus came out in 2011. Luckily she has finally announced that she will be releasing … something at some point in 2016. The only statement about the book so far has been that “The Night Circus felt like paper, this new book feels like glass” … Yeah … I know it’s weird and mysterious but I’m super excited!!
I read the first two volumes of Sex Criminals last year, and although it’s ridiculously weird, it’s also oddly interesting and I can’t wait to see what happens to Suzie and Jon next.

Although nothing has been said yet, I would also LOVE to read another book by Nathan Filer. I read The Shock of the Fall in last year, and it was just so good, so another book would be much appreciated!
I also read The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin in 2015, and it has become on of my all time favourite books. Although the author has released a bunch of other books that I haven’t read, because most of them are fantasy or sci fi, I really want some more realistic stories in a similar style to The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry.
